Halloween and Fall Festival- Wednesday, October 23, 5pm-7pm.
*Avella Art Club's second annual Halloween and Fall Festival will take place in the high school cafeteria on Wednesday, October 23, from 5pm to 7pm. There will be lots of games for kids of all ages, costume contest, candy, refreshments, music and more.
 Halloween Carnations $2.
*The Avella Art Club is selling Halloween carnations for $2. each. They are available in orange, black, and purple.
Snowman Bottles- Sports Themed/Custom $8.
 
*The Avella Art Club is selling handcrafted scarecrows, fall and Halloween decorative signs, and custom bottle snowmen. See an art club member or Ms. Miller.

Art & Writing Expo at California University.
The art club recently visited California University to attend an Art and Writing Expo. Students were able to participate in either a printmaking, drawing, painting, ceramics or photography workshop and one writing workshop. The students who attended said the workshops were amazing. Tyler Chapman said, “It made me love writing.”  Brandon Fulton said, “That was an awesome fieldtrip, the writing teacher was so good.”  Countless students said the art workshops were very helpful and unique. Only three photos were taken of the day. Three students who attended the ceramics workshop were Travis Smith, Devin Plymire, and Tyler Davis.

Avella art club, photography class, and video production participated in West Liberty University's Madfest 2013. Students participated in workshops such as screenprinting, portrait photography, video editing, sculpture, music, and tons more. They also received a free madfest shirt and free lunch.

Students participated in various workshops throughout the day at Madfest. Morgan Dubich, Andrea Neil, and Katlyn Yalacki created a print in the screenprinting workshop.

Scholastic Art and Writing Awards for Avella Jr. Sr. High School


Over 400 art works were submitted to the Scholastic Art and Writing from all of Washington and Greene county school districts. Avella received 7 gold key awards, 1 silver key award, 4 Merit awards, and an American Visions Award. The American Visions Award is considered the best of show and will represent the western region of Pennsylvania. The Gold Key winners and the American Visions will now go on to compete at the National level in New York City.
The results will be announced on March 15, 2013.
